Mideast carriers record 10.8pct traffic increase in April

(MENAFN) The Middle Eastern carriers, which involve three fast growing main Gulf airlines, recorded a 10.8 percent traffic growth in April, despite the ban on carrying laptops from many Mideast airports to the U.S.

However, the April growth for the airline was slower than the five-year average growth pace; while the region's global traffic has tracked sideways since Jan.

Accordingly, the cabin ban on the carriage of large portable elect devices from 10 Middle Eastern and African airports to the U.S. appears to have weighed down Mideast- North America passenger traffic.

Currently, almost 275 airlines covered 83 percent of global air traffic, announced global passenger traffic data for the cited month showing that demand rose by 10.7 percent.
