    Omani non-oil exports to enter African markets

    (MENAFN) A senior official at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) said that the Sultanate is seeking expansion in new African markets, in a time it is looking forward to reduce its reliance on oil revenues through increasing the non-oil exports, Times of Oman reported. "At the moment we are highly dependent on oil exports, but the strategy of the government and the private sector is to diversify the economy. So we are trying to identify new markets," vice-chairman (Administration and Finance Affairs) of the OCCI said. Oman has held many meetings with a number of African officials, including Tanzania and Kenya, he added, stating that the markets of non-oil Omani products include the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, India, Iraq, China, Indonesia, and some European countries.
