UAE's non-oil trade hits USD142b in H1
(MENAFN) The UAE's Federal Customs Authority (FCA) said that the value of direct total foreign non-oil trade has reached USD142.8 billion during the January-June period of 2014, Arabian Business reported.
The FCA said that the figures for the first half of this year include the value of the imports, which reached USD92.59 billion, exports of USD17.23 billion, and re-exports of USD33.05 billion.
In terms of regions, Asia, Australia and the Pacific maintained their spot as the top of the list of the UAE's non-oil trading partners with 42 percent of the total non-oil trade value, followed by the Europe with 27 percent, and the MENA region with 15 percent.
While in terms of countries, Saudi Arabia was the UAE's biggest trading partner in the Gulf region during the first six months of the year with 36 percent of the GCC total, followed by Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.
"The UAE has continued to strengthen its pre-eminent position on the world trade map and expand the role it plays in facilitating trade between countries during the first half of this year driven by the increase of activity in all economic sectors," The FCA said in its report.
