    Morocco's trade deficit grows by 35.8pct in Q1

    (MENAFN) Morocco's trade deficit increased 35.8 percent to USD4.14bn in the Jan-March period of the year compared to a year earlier.

    Accordingly, the trade gap grew from 29.62bn dirhams in the same period of 2016, with spending on equipment imports growing 10.9 percent to 40.4bn dirhams.

    However, wheat imports dropped 10.2 percent from a year earlier to 5.34bn dirhams, whereas whole exports increased 3.2 percent year on year to 114.9bn dirhams.

    In addition, tourism revenues also fell 4.7 percent and remittances from 4.5mn living abroad declined 3.2 percent to 18.51bn dirhams.
