55 percent plunge of Qatar visitor arrivals

(MENAFN) Due to the ongoing blockade by Arab states toward Qatar, visitor arrivals to the state plunged 55 percent between May and June of this year, and were still down 55 percent year-on-year in September, the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) stated in it recent Economic Update.

Visitors from the Gulf typically account for around half of all arrivals to Qatar, and were down a massive 84 percent year-on-year in September.

Visitors from elsewhere were down a more modest 10 per cent year-on-year, but had been up earlier in the year.

A large impact is shown on monthly data on merchandise trade, according to the Update.
