A380 to be shut down if orders cease to come from Emirates airline

(MENAFN) During a press conference, Airbus sales director John Leahy declared the aerospace giant to terminate the A380 programme in the possibility of Dubai's Emirates airline not making further orders.

The decision came as a result of superjumbo top customer, Emirates, slow paced orders over the past two year.

The director announced "we are still talking to Emirates, but honestly they are probably the only one to have the ability right now on the market place to take a minimum of six per year on a period of 8 to 10 years."

He continued "quite honestly, if we can't work out a deal with Emirates there is no choice but to shut down the programme. But I'm hopeful that we work out a deal with Emirates."
