KSA set to build USD530m desalination plants on Red Sea

(MENAFN) Saudi Arabia environment minister has declared a project to construct over $530 million nine desalination plants on the Red Sea coast.

Minister Abdulrahman al-Fadhli revealed on Twitter that the capacity of the plans is to be 240,000 cubic meters of water daily and is to be finished in less than 18 months.

He explained that the project is to push the government-owned Saudi Saline Water Conversion Corp (SWCC) to boost production efficiency along with cutting operation and capital expenses.

Previously in 2016, Saudi Arabia announced its preparation to use public-private partnerships (PPP) with local and foreign firms aiming to finance infrastructure plans.
