Algeria records annual inflation decline to 5.2 percent

(MENAFN) Algeria was found to have seen a decline in annual inflation, as it decreased from December's 5.6 percent to 5.2 percent in January, apparently as a result of vegetables' prices drop.

The National Statistics Bureau has shown a 0.9 fall in consumer price index, with an 8 percent decline in vegetable prices.

Meanwhile, it also found a 1.4 percent increase in cheese costs along with a 2 percent boost in dried fruit prices in January.

Following a decline in energy profits, Algeria has been investing an effort to shrink spending through increasing domestic food output and limiting imports.
