    Egypt records 11 percent drop in trade deficit

    (MENAFN) Egypt has registered in January an 11 percent year-on-year drop in trade shortfall, the Ministry of Trade and Industry declared.

    In its statement, the ministry also revealed a 4 percent decline in imports, with a 16 percent boost in exports.

    Egyptian non-petroleum exports have also reached USD1.9 billion in January, from USD1.6 billion last year during the same period, while imports reached USD4.6 billion, from USD4.7 in 2017, as confirmed by Minister of Trade and Industry Tariq Qabeel.

    The minister stated "the positive indicators of the movement of Egyptian foreign trade reflect the success of the ministry's strategy of promoting foreign trade."
