Qatar market targets self-sufficiency in dairy products
(MENAFN) Qatar was confirmed by chairman to the board of directors for Baladna Moutaz al-Khayyat to be anticipating self-sufficiency in its market when it comes to dairy products in around two months' time.
The decision has emerged to be in support of Qatar's attempts to defeat a blockade which the UAE imposed along with Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Bahrain last year.
During his interview with Anadolu Agency, the chairman declared "Baladna company, immediately after the blockade, had imported 4,000 cows from the United States and Europe."
He continued "the new number of cows represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and productive growth phase and will help us meet the market demands of high quality fresh dairy products."
