Libya's telecoms utility launches USD1.7bn projects

(MENAFN) Libya's telecoms utility has launched USD1.7 billion projects for enhancing connections after struggling with electricity blackouts and smashed infrastructure.

LPTIC has cancelled all projects of renovation and investment in 2014 since Tripoli conflicts originated in government disputes.

During an interview, LPTIC Chairman Faisel Gergab declared "we've been working really hard over the last year or so to ... unify the institution under one umbrella, and I can officially declare that we have done that."

The chairman also revealed a meeting to have been carried out in January, saying "it sent an extremely positive vibe across the board that now we're in place, and we can start showing some improvements."
