Qatar, China trade up to USD10.3mln in 2017

(MENAFN) (MENAFN) Trade exchange between China and Qatar has hit USD10.3 billion in the past year, Qatar Chamber's deputy chairman Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar announced Sunday.

"China is one of our best trade partners, as both nations have distinguished and deep economic, trade, and cultural relationships," Bin Towar added.

China-Qatar bilateral ties improved vastly during the last few years, which was crowned with the inauguration of the first Renminbi clearing hub in the Middle East, Qatar Renminbi Center, the deputy chairman said.

This comes amid economic and political tension between Qatar and four other Arab countries, as in early June, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt and Bahrain severed diplomatic and trade ties with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism and destabilizing the Middle East, while Qatar, denied the accusations, describing attempts to diplomatically isolate it as a violation of international law and its national sovereignty.
