    Jordan, Egypt ink deal on gas supply resumption

    (MENAFN) Jordan and Egypt were announced to have inked a deal over the recommencement of gas supply to Jordan early next year.

    In a statement, Jordanian Minister of Energy Hala Zawati explained that Egypt, under the agreement, is to supply 10 percent of daily gas needs to Jordan starting 2019.

    The Jordanian minister noted that Jordan requires 330 million cubic feet of natural gas per day in order to produce power.

    Egypt was also said to be compensating he kingdom for the gas it did not supply after the militant group Islamic State (IS) ruined the pipeline between both countries.
