Tunisia sees 2.6 percent economic growth in H1

(MENAFN) Tunisia was found to have seen a 2.6 percent increase in its national economy during the first six months of this year.

The figure has been unveiled by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), in comparison to a 1.9 percent economic growth recorded during the first half of last year.

INS confirmed Tunisia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to have seen a 2.8 percent year-on-year growth during the second quarter of this year, along with a 0.6 percent rise during the first quarter.

The boost was explained to have mainly been driven by an increase in the value added of key sectors, including food industries by +2.4 percent, textiles, clothing and footwear by +2.6 percent, and chemical industries by 4.9 percent.
