(MENAFN) Egypt has unveiled its goals behind creating the general framework for the 2018-2022 medium-term sustainable development plan within areas of social and urban development and environmental enhancement.

The four-year plan is aiming to cut the rate of inflation to reach 8.5 percent from the 14.3 percent registered in February this year.

The statement has been made by Hala al-Saeed, Minister of Planning, Follow-up and Administrative Reform during a press conference.

The Egyptian government was also confirmed to be targeting population growth to be shrunk to hit 2.1 percent, compared to the 2.65 percent recorded last year.

It also looks to achieve a decrease in illiteracy from the current 26 percent to reach 20 percent by 2022.
