Qatar, S. Africa trade volume surges 70 percent

(MENAFN) Qatar and South Africa have seen a 70 percent jump in their trade volume following the blockade impose against Qatar.

The boost in the trade volume between the two countries has been caused by emerging market opportunities and deep bilateral ties.

The statement has been made by Ambassador of South Africa to Qatar Faizel Moosa during an interview with The Peninsula.

The envoy stated "a large portion of bilateral trade volume is due to increased import of food products from South Africa to Qatar."

Moosa added "I do believe that Qatar sees Africa as an important trading partner and South African in particular. We do see an increase in the trade volume between the countries."
