Bahrain-Malaysia trade volume reaches over USD230 million

(MENAFN) Bahrain has seen its trade volume with Malaysia register a boost in 2017, hitting over USD230 million.

The figure has been unveiled by Malaysian Ambassador Agus Salim Bin Yusof during an interview with the GDN.

The Malaysian envoy revealed the trade volume between his country and Bahrain to have posted USD236 million last year.

The envoy further confirmed the total imports from Bahrain to have reached USD131.1 million, while exports to Bahrain hit USD106 million.

Bin Yusof noted that "out of that $236m, we imported more from Bahrain than we exported to it."

He added "the major import items from Bahrain were petroleum products, which make up about 74 per cent of our imports from Bahrain. This was followed by metal products at 22.4pc and the other things are quite negligible such as iron and steel products, seafood and machinery."
