Iranian rial hits lowest rate against US dollar

(MENAFN) The Iranian currency was announced to have hit its lowest rate against the US dollar amid growing tensions between Iran and the US.

One US dollar was traded in the exchange market of Tehran for 148,000 rials, marking around 25 percent value loss.

The decline in the rial was recorded as an effect of the series of sanctions the US imposed on Iran.

It also comes after US President Trump decided to withdraw from the Iran nuclear accord in May, pledging to slap Iran with renewed sanctions.
