Tunisia, Qatar trade volume jumps 200 percent in H1
(MENAFN) Tunisia and Qatar were announced to have seen a 200 percent surge in their trade volume during the first six months of 2018.
The figure has been unveiled by Tunisia's Ambassador to Qatar Slah Salhi, who affirmed that the two countries have been witnessing bilateral relations that have become more powerful over the years.
Tunisia's ambassador stressed "Qatar is among the top countries which are supporting investment in Tunisia and is still continuing that support."
The envoy noted "to support Tunisian economy, Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani had announced allocation of $1.25bn as a contribution at Tunisia 2020 Conference (held in November 2016) to support the Tunisian economy and promote its development drive."
During an interview with The Peninsula, Salhi stated "all these indicate strong relations between Qatar and Tunisia."
He added "there are more than 26,000 Tunisians in Qatar, reflecting growing and strong relations between the two countries. Qatar has the second largest foreign direct investment in Tunisia, accounting 16 percent of the country's available investments."
