Lebanon's minister says no tax hikes in 2019 budget

(MENAFN) Lebanon's caretaker Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil assured that the country is not planning to impose new taxes in its budget for next year.

The Lebanese minister affirmed that civilians in Lebanon are not capable of handing more hikes in taxes.

The National News Agency cited the minister as saying: "people cannot pay more taxes to finance the government's projects."

Khalil suggested that "what we really need right now are real reforms whereby all political parties assume their full responsibilities in this regard."

The statement has come shortly after Al Akhbar local newspaper reported the possibility of new increases in taxes to be implemented in Lebanon.
