Yemeni central bank raises deposits interest rates to 27 percent

(MENAFN) The Yemeni Central Bank was reportedly declared to have raised its interest rates on deposits on Wednesday to hit 27 percent.

The resolution to impose the boost on the deposits interest rates has been reached by the board of the Aden-based YCB as well as Yemen's economic committee.

State-run Saba news agency reported the interest rate on deposits to have been settled at 12 percent in the last years ahead of the increase.

The move is aiming to prevent a significant deflation which has been hitting the national currency of the country against other foreign currencies.
