    Turkey uncovers Medium-Term Program for tackling inflation

    (MENAFN) Turkey was has revealed its Medium-Term Program (MTP) for the 2019-2021 period.

    The program is to be launched under the theme "stabilization, discipline and transformation," and is targeting shrinking high inflation and managing growth while the country undergoes a currency crisis.

    Turkey's government is looking through the program to cut inflation and unemployment rates, along with managing a sustainable GDP.

    At a press conference, Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak described the initiative as the "New Economic Program".

    Albayrak added that the program has been designed to be broad in order to handle the inflation which reached a record of 18 percent in July this year.

    He added that the country is aiming for the inflation of 2018-2021 to hit 20.8 percent, 15.9 percent, 9.8 percent and 6 percent, in that order.
