Egypt awards contract to operate, maintain major power plants

(MENAFN) Siemens has been awarded with a contract by Egypt's Electricity Holding Company (EEHC) for running and maintaining its major combined-cycle power plants.

Over a period of 8 years, the Beni Suef, New Capital and Burullus power plants are to receive wide-ranging operation and maintenance services (O&M) from Siemens.

The deal is considered as the most major agreement secured by the Siemens Power Generation Services when it comes to power generated.

The agreement covers the execution of the digital service solutions of the Egyptian company.

EEHC chairman Eng Gaber El Desouki stated "the new agreement aligns with our energy production goals to ensure sustainable growth and maximum reliability and efficiency of new and existing combined-cycle generating facilities."

The chairman added "strategically, it makes sense for us to enlist a single trusted and credible service provider to help operate and manage our large-scale power assets."
