Siemens eyes USD10.6b agreement for energy tech supply to Iraq
(MENAFN) Siemens was unveiled to be eyeing an USD10.6 billion agreement for providing Iraq with energy generation technology.
The news has been announced in a report released by business daily Handelsblatt, according to sources of the government and industry.
The daily confirmed Iraq to have received on Sunday Siemens Chief Executive Joe Kaeser for discussing a memorandum of understanding.
The report further revealed that the agreement is to include the supply of power transmission technology to Iraq.
The report also confirmed that a resolution is yet to be reached by the Iraqi government on the signing of a deal with the German engineering group.
The group's spokesman said "we had submitted our roadmap document for repowering Iraq to Prime Minister Haider Jawad Al-Abadi in February."
The spokesman added "through our proposal, we aim to add 11 gigawatts of power generation capacity in four years, create thousands of jobs in the country, and support anti-corruption, skills development and education among Iraqis."
