    S. Sudan plans to strengthen fishery industry

(MENAFN) South Sudan is targeting its fishery industry to act as a substitute for oil and increase its revenue.

The South Sudanese council of ministers passed an initiative that is looking to attract public and private sector investment in the fisheries industry.

The investments are to lend a hand in funding fishery projects as well as conducting research on fish species and development of aquaculture.

The draft National Fisheries Policy and Aquaculture Strategy is to majorly help the economy in the country to grow by job vacancies provision and fish export, Information minister Micheal Makuei stated.

Makuei added "South Sudan is one of the areas where fish die of old age. We need to develop this area of fisheries so that it becomes natural resources of income for the people of South Sudan."
