Morocco sees 12.6 percent rise in trade deficit Jan-Aug

(MENAFN) Morocco was unveiled to have recorded a 12.6 percent boost in its trade deficit during the first eight months of this year, reaching USD7.8 billion.

The deficit increase is attributed to the 10.4-percent rise in imports, the foreign exchange regulator explained according to data.

The rise in imports was mainly imposed because of a 19.2 percent surge in energy bill as well as a 17.8 percent jump in raw materials and 12.5 percent in equipment.

The country was also confirmed to have seen an 11.3 percent jump in exports, standing at around USD18.1 billion.
