Oman to launch operations at Sohar-3 Power Plant by 2019 Q1
(MENAFN) Oman was announced to be launching commercial operations at the Sohar-3 Power Plant starting next year during the first quarter.
The developer of the power plant, Shinas Generating Company (SGC), is aiming to enter the Muscat Securities Market (MSM) list by the third quarter of 2019.
CEO of SGC Eng. Abdullah Ali Al Nofli stressed that "the project is the second largest power plant in Oman with a net capacity of 1,710 megawatts."
The CEO further added that the project has been witnessing a significant progress after the construction phase was wrapped up, with the commissioning and testing stage beginning.
Al Nofli added "the company is also committed towards the In-Country Value (ICV) approach and accordingly allocated more than 21.6 per cent of the total construction contracts value, amounting for OMR65.4 million to local companies."
