Oman sees 17.63 percent boost in GCC property purchasers

(MENAFN) Oman achieved a 17.63 percent increase in the number of its property investors from the GCC countries.

Oman's National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) uncovered the figure of the volume of GCC purchasers of Omani real estate.

During August this year, 1,038 GCC citizens acquired properties in Oman, from the 855 recorded during the same period last year, NCSI data showed.

A Ministry of Housing official stated: "the increase in the number of GCC nationals' ownership of plots in Oman is because they benefit from the returns on investment in the real estate sector and its value compared to some other Gulf states."

The official added: "some of them also buy plots because they have relatives in Oman and want to live near them. Some have inherited land plots because they are of Omani origin, in addition to the desire of many investors to own property in some provinces because of the weather and moderate climate."
