Syria re-opens major gas field in Damascus

(MENAFN) Syria was announced in a report to have re-opened its gas field in north of Damascus following a long closure due to the crisis the country is suffering from.

Syria's Deir-Attiyah-1 gas field re-opened with its production capacity of 150 thousand cubic meters per day.

The re-launch ceremony which was held for the gas field was attended by Syrian Oil Minister Ali Ghanem, RT reported citing the press service of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the SAR.

The report further noted that the drilling at the Syrian gas field was finalized at 2009 at a depth of 3,741 meters.

The field used to offer gas reserves of around 4 billion cubic meters before it was shut down as a result of the Syrian crisis which erupted in 2011.
