Sudan imposes 40 percent raise on flour subsidies

(MENAFN) Sudan was announced by its Finance Ministry to have imposed a 40 percent increase in its flour subsidies.

The move was explained to have come after Sudan cut down its subsidies within this year, causing higher bread prices and leading for demonstrations.

In a statement, the Finance Ministry confirmed the Sudanese government to now allocate USD737,000 of daily spending.

Following the reduction of bread subsidies, inflation recorded in August a surge to hit 66 percent, while bread prices doubled to lead people to stage nationwide protests.
