Iraqi gov't, Kurdish to resume Kirkuk oilfield's exports

(MENAFN) Iraq's federal government and the Kurdistan region were declared to have secured a preliminary deal on the re-launch of exports of crude oil of Kirkuk oilfield.

"50,000 to 100,000 oil barrels per day will be exported through Kurdistan's pipeline to Turkey," as announced the spokesman of Iraq's Oil Ministry, Asim Jihad.

"The Iraqi oil marketing company (SOMO) will be in charge of the export and marketing of this quantity," the spokesman noted.

It comes one year after the suspension of Kirkuk oil exports to Turkey, as Iraqi troops seized power over the Kirkuk province following a bid on Kurdistan's independence.
