Iran, India mull over trade ties amid sanctions

(MENAFN) Iran and India mulled over means to boost their trade, while the United States is threatening its economy with fresh sanctions.

The discussions were held between India's Ambassador to Tehran Saurabh Kumar and Masoud Khansari, head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.

The Iranian and Indian diplomats, during their talks, explored methods on how to preserve their trade cooperation while Iran is suffering from the U.S. sanctions.

"Now that the port has been exempted from U.S. sanctions, the two sides must capitalize on this opportunity," the top Iranian official stressed in reference to the key Chabahar Port.

"Sanctions create many problems, but they have also created this opportunity for us to tap into neglected capabilities and capacities," Khansari added.
