Jordan passes income tax law amid budget deficit battle

(MENAFN) The Jordanian Lower House was announced to have granted approval to an incoming tax law, while the Kingdom aims to tackle budget deficit.

Jordan must pass the income tax bill if it does not wish to pay more interests rates on its debt, stressed Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz.

The Kingdom is looking to offset its soaring public debt which has reached 96 percent of the gross domestic product, the prime minister noted.

Razzaz added "the new law is a necessary step to build a stronger economy that fuels growth and in line with national interests and priorities."
