    Sudan 2019 policy targets inflation cuts to 27.1 percent

    (MENAFN) Sudan is targeting cutting the rate of inflation this year to reach 27.1 percent, the Central Bank of Sudan announced.

    The target was declared by the central bank's governor Mohamed Khair al-Zubair during a news conference held in Khartoum.

    The bank's governor unveiled that "the policies of the Central Bank of Sudan for 2019 intend to achieve monetary and financial stability to realize sustainable growth."

    The governor affirmed that the bank is aspiring to "contribute to achieving a real growth rate in GDP estimated at about 5.1 percent."

    Al-Zubair added that the bank's 2019 policies cover reducing inflation, achieving stability in the exchange rate, and developing confidence in the banking system.
