Jordan inks deal with Egypt for 50 percent gas demand for electricity

(MENAFN) Jordan inked a deal with Egypt to receive 50 percent of its demand for natural gas for the generation of electricity this year.

King of Jordan Abdullah II penned the gas supply pact with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Amman.

Under the agreement, Jordan will see a boost in its power supply system stability and record less energy bill, affirmed Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Hala Zawati.

Shell, an international energy giant, along with other local resources will be providing the rest of the Kingdom's gas for power production needs.
