    Egypt begins supplying natural gas needs for power to Jordan

    (MENAFN) Egypt implemented its agreement with Jordan to supply the Kingdom with half its natural gas demand for electricity per day.

    The deal was inked between Egypt and Jordan in the beginning of January 2019, when Egypt promised the Kingdom to satisfy half its gas needs for electricity generation this year.

    According to an official who unveiled the news, the pact is highly significance for the Jordanian energy bill to be eased.

    Speaking to Xinhua, economist Hosam Ayesh commented: "this is a very important step that will support the Jordanian economy."

    The economist further added that "the Egyptian gas will help increase the competitiveness of the Jordanian industries as the cost of energy is a main obstacle the industries usually face."
