Algeria plunges to USD80b in foreign monetary reserves

(MENAFN) Algeria recorded a drop in its foreign monetary reserve to stand at below USD80 billion, announced Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia.

"Unfortunately, foreign monetary reserves dropped to less than USD80 billion (around USD79.80 billion)," the Algerian prime minister unveiled during a press conference.

Algeria registered by late November 2018 USD82.12 billion in its foreign monetary reserve from the USD97.33 seen late 2017, the prime minister noted.

It comes as the country started witnessing growing challenges in its finance over the last years since global oil prices began declining by the second half of 2014, Ouyahia added.
