    Turkey set for offshore drilling in Cyprus

    (MENAFN) Turkey was announced to be set to send its ships for exploration plans as they prepare for offshore drilling in Cyprus in the near future.

    Economy and energy minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ozdil Nami made the declaration during an interview with Anadolu Agency.

    According to the minister, "we will protect the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriots and take the necessary steps on the issue of natural gas, just as we do on other issues."

    Turkey's plans, the minister affirmed, are assured to stay under the framework of international deals.

    Nami further added that TRNC is fully prepared at all times to engage in energy partnerships with the Greek Cypriot administration.
