Qatar to boost sports sector in USD20b
(MENAFN) Qatar set out a plan to allocate USD20 billion in the development of its sports sector before the GCC state hosts the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
CEO of Qatar Financial Center (QFC) Yousuf Al-Jaida declared the plan to reporters while revealing the strategic vision for the 2022 World Cup set to be held in Doha.
QFC, the official affirmed, is looking to grant around 150 sports firms a license in order to facilitate sports events and services.
Al-Jaida noted that "the new strategy will promote Qatar to a hub for innovative, digital, media, sports, and financial services, which will provide a solid basis for direct foreign investments in growing fields."
He further added that QFC developed an approach that consists of seeking out new emerging markets for the World Cup preparations.
