    Moroccan consumer price inflation declines to 0.5 percent

    (MENAFN) Morocco registered a decline in its yearly consumer price inflation, reaching 0.5 percent in January.

    According to the high commission for planning, Morocco recorded the drop compared to the 1.9 percent of consumer price inflation seen in December 2018.

    Annual food inflation in Morocco witnessed a surge to hit 2.3 percent last month from 1.3 percent, with non-food inflation falling to 0.8 percent compared with 1.8 percent.

    Consumer price index last month plunged to 0.3 percent last month, compared with 0.7 percent a month earlier.

    This decline was explained to be attributed to a shrink by 0.5 percent in the food consumer price index and 0.2 percent in non-staple products.
