Morocco jumps 8.6 percent in Jan trade deficit

(MENAFN) Morocco was revealed on Monday to have stood at USD1.6 billion in its trade deficit by the end of January 2019, marking an 8.6 percent boost.

This boost was attributed to a jump by 7-percent in imports, reaching USD4.1 billion, and a surge in raw materials by 43.8 percent and food imports by 6.9 percent.

Despite Moroccan exports witnessing a 5.9 percent raise and hitting USD2.5 billion, it still maintained a less value compared to imports.

Exports increase was explained to be a result of a 23 percent boost in phosphate and a 4.6 percent hike in aeronautics products along with a 3 percent raise in agricultural goods.
