    Morocco-EU fisheries agreement adopted

(MENAFN) A fisheries deal between Morocco and the European Union (EU) can now be executed following an approval from the European Council.

The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement grants Morocco USD61.1 million per year to enable 128 EU vessels to fish in its waters.

However, the agreement does not cover octopuses and shrimps in order for the species to be protected.

It comes following the expiry of a four-year pact between the two sides, pushing around 120 EU vessels to depart Moroccan waters.
