Oman forecast to see sharp gas output jump in 4 years

(MENAFN) Oman is forecast for a significant increase in the capacity of gas production, with a potential to beat oil production over the next four years.

Rystad Energy unveiled in its report a forecast for Omani oil production to drop by 200,000 barrels per day in 2025.

In the report, analyst Aditya Saraswat suggested that "gas is on the rise in Oman, and this transition is very timely. Oil output declines over the last two years may indicate a point of no return for Omani oil, but the country's sliding oil production is set to be replaced by gas."

It further added that gas production by 2025 is projected for a jump to hit roughly 130 million cubic meters per day to exceed 50 percent in oil-gas production mix.
