(MENAFN) Jordan's Ministry of Finance revealed the Kingdom to have stood at USD40.228 billion in its public debt to mark a 0.7 percent boost in January.

Data unveiled the figure to have amounted for 94 percent of the GDP, comparing it to the USD39.914 of public debt reached December 2018.

According to the ministry, Jordan marked a 0.5 percent raise in its net national debt to hit USD38.1 billion from USD37.9 billion during the period.

It comes after Jordanian Finance Minister Ezzeddine Kanakrieh affirmed that the national debt ratio in the Kingdom is above global financial standards, with the government prioritizing cuts in the ratio.
