Tunisia, IMF to review USD2.8b loan program

(MENAFN) Tunisia is addressing with a delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) a loan program on March 27th.

Reform Minister Tawfiq al-Rajhi confirmed the country to be hosting the IMF mission for a two-week period.

According to the minister, "the IMF mission will visit Tunisia from March 27 to April 9 for discussions on the fifth review of the loan program."

It comes after the Tunisian government imposed hikes on salaries of around 670,000 public workers with a purpose to reduce the budget deficit.

Back in December 2016, Tunisia and the IMF signed an agreement on a USD2.8 billion loan for economic reforms to take place in the country.
