Turkish currency breaks record low since Aug

(MENAFN) Turkey recorded a significant decline in its currency with indications of tensions between the country and the United States on the Golan Heights issue.

Turkey's lira registered a 5.5 percent drop on Friday from Thursday figures, trading at 5.75 liras against the U.S. dollar.

Based on the figures, this is the biggest fall the Turkish lira has witnessed ever since a currency meltdown experienced August 2018 due to a diplomatic dispute with the U.S.

Breaking a record low, Turkey saw its lira hit 7.24 against the U.S. dollar last August following the apprehension of an American pastor.
