Jordan drops 70 percent in exports to Syria

(MENAFN) Jordan recorded a significant decline in its exports to Syria from January to March 2019 after a land border crossing between the two sides was re-operated.

President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry Fathi al-Jaghbeer revealed to Petra news agency the drop to have been recorded at 70 percent.

Meanwhile, the chamber head unveiled, the value of Jordan's exports to Syria stood at around USD26 million during the first three months of the year, from the USD86 million recorded during the same period last year.

This sharp fall, Al-Jaghbeer added, is attributed to "restrictions and impediments" Syrian authorities have imposed.
