Morocco urged to move forward in gradual dirham floating

(MENAFN) Morocco received an appeal from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to move forward in achieving a slow floating of its currency.

IMF officials voiced complete endorsement to the Moroccan plan to slowly turn its exchange rate policy into a flexible one.

This move, IMF officials assured, could contribute in accomplishing an enhancement in the economy's capability to be resilient to challenges and preserve competitiveness.

It comes over a year after the country began floating the dirham gradually while imposing an increase in the official band of dirham's fluctuation to stand at 2.5 percent.
