    Iran: agriculture, infrastructure suffer USD470m losses from floods

    (MENAFN) Iran was struck with USD470 million of losses in its agriculture and infrastructure sectors after the eruption of violent floods.

    USD350 of the losses were inflicted upon the agricultural sector while the remaining amount resulted from roads damages.

    Farms and agricultural goods within sixteen Iranian provinces suffered major damage due to the floods, affirmed the Ministry of Agriculture's Crisis Management and Hazard Reduction Department.

    According to the ministry department, farming damages accounted for 49 percent of the losses while water and soil sources amounted for 22 percent, horticulture for 16 percent, livestock, poultry and fishery sectors for 13 percent.
