    Lebanon issues USD1b subsidized loans package

    (MENAFN) Lebanon's Central Bank issued a fresh package of subsidized loans worth as much as USD1 billion, its governor Riad Salameh declared.

    According to the Central Bank governor, "the new subsidized loans include 500 million U.S. dollars for the productive sectors, 220 million U.S. dollars for housing loans, 100 million U.S. dollars for Lebanese expatriates which will be mostly used to purchase apartments in Lebanon."

    A loan was presented to Lebanon by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development at a worth of USD165 million for housing loans, the governor revealed.

    Salameh further added that the new package is expected to cause a 1.5 percent boost of the GDP growth this year.
